Bagley Pond Farm + Gardens

Drift is thrilled to be collaborating with Bagley Pond Farm, a native perennials and hops farm in Warner, New Hampshire. We are developing a series of demonstration gardens of native plants around the green houses, along the banks of the stream and Bagley Pond. The 300 acre property home to Bagley Pond Perennials is nested in the Northern Appalachian Highlands, primarily boreal forest. Working within the parameters of a working farm that is also looking to host visitors and have tours and classes, drift is designing spaces with an array of plant combinations using the microclimates, topography, and soil types as found throughout the site. The new master plan will include expanded growing fields and natural irrigation, as well as combinations of successful indigenous plant communities that support local wildlife and pollinator species.

While some areas are thriving fields growing perennials, the site was formerly host to grazing livestocks and intensive farming practices; as a result, large swaths of open land are completely stripped of topsoil. We’ll be sharing progress as we adapt this ground to hold water and plants, and rebuild the soil from the bottom up to support a range of activities and wildlife.
